Here is the first draft of our bathroom.... the idea is to make a bathroom that is wheelchair accessible with a big roll in shower. At this point we think that we are going to use slate as the floor surface and walls in the shower...
A very good friend of our is helping us with the plumbing.... John (João) is one of my first friends here in the US. He is just a little older then us and has a fantastic wife.... He asked me to make a hole on the floor to put the pipes for the toilet and the drain (center picture). I also put the first wall up on the back.... On the second day, John installed the drains, the shower and the water for the toilet... while I put a second wall up. Slowly we are moving toward a new bath :)
Today we went to Home Depot Clearance center and bought a new shower, a new faucet for the half bath upstairs and a few other things... its the best store ever... to bad they will be closing soon :(

The basement renovation begins....

This week we started a big project. Our basement..... Until now it was a dark, dusty and moldy place, but when we finish, it will be one of the coolest places of our house. As you can see in the first picture, we had and old washer and drier in the basement. We built a new laundry room and the area where the old laundry was we will convert in a bathroom. We will have to relocate the heater pipes, make a new plumbing system and put new walls up, but we are very happy to finally begin this project.
